Since beginning homeschool last fall, we've read several books in the "You wouldn't want to..." series.
We've read:
They provide an interesting and entertaining way of looking at history in a non-fiction format. All of the books provide facts in black and white (i.e., some of the emigrant ships during the Irish potato famine were nicknamed "coffin ships") and they present the facts as they were! The fun illustrations help to make the book more lighthearted than perhaps actual photos of the time period might present.
Give one a pre-read and see if the shocking reality of our human history is a "must read"!
