In the beginning...

I would be remiss if I didn't say that Paul and I are about the two best vacation planners to ever cross this great nation.  Paul provides the flexibility, I provide the planning, the Lord provides above average temperatures and somewhere in the middle we all collide for outstanding trips....even with three in tow!

Recipe for a great start to vacation:

1.  Start with proper Midwest map, Creation Museum brochure, and hotel reservations.
2.  Sprinkle in a cooler full of healthy, but tasty, food.
3.  Insist on adding "every one GO" at each stop.
4.  Heat in luxury van until almost done and then release!

Really, though, we gave an early morning start a try and watched the sunrise over Chicago.  Skipped traffic by traveling on Easter morning and were outside picnicking in Kentucky in shorts by lunch.

(Jack making the best of a long situation!)

My score of Ken Hamm's Creation Museum (1=bad, 10=great) would be a 6 with TONS of potential.  We didn't do the planetarium or any of the shows, though, and I think that would have added to our experience.  But, we felt we had experienced enough to make the visit a valuable one to our vacation.

(They came in two by two...crawling through Noah's Ark.)

Considering the Creation Museum is the first of its kind and basically the brainstorm of one man, it has a lot to offer.

(Frightening dinosaurs!)

We spent about 2 hours on the inside (1 hour in the "history of the Bible exhibit") and 1 in a few shorter exhibits and the book store.

(We're okay!)

Older kids and adults would love to read each and every exhibit, but I think we did pretty good making it a meaningful experience though the children are still young.

(Lot's of good reading material.)

Then we spent an hour in the outside gardens and petting zoo.

(Lena & I had some really good times together.)

After a quick trip down the highway, we swam in the hotel pool, ate Subway, swam again and then cashed it in after some TV.  PJ did GREAT in the hotel....a surprise to all!

 (Maybe it was the Benadryl?!)

Some early morning coffee and a newspaper for me (a TRUE vacation in my mind!) and we continued south east the following day.

Stay tuned.....

So happy the trip was a success, so refreshing I'm sure. We leave for FL on Friday. We're all there mentally already.
